What is the Territory Story podcast?
A podcast for the people of Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Alice Springs
At its heart, the Territory Story podcast is about the Northern Territory of Australia, the people who live and work here (known as Territorians) and how we connect with each other and the world. Each week, Peter Gowers (Oppidanus Digital Marketing, Up Town Entertainment Pty Ltd, iProperty NT)) connects with guests and shoots the breeze about their lives, what brought them to the Territory and what they love about it.
The aim of the podcast is to bring you authentic and engaging conversations. The podcast was originally a Darwin podcast but has evolved to bring you guests from all over the Territory.
On the podcast we talk to Territorians from every corner the Northern Territory including Darwin, Palmerston, the Darwin rural area, Arnhem Land, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs and everywhere in between.
The podcast, as the name suggests, gives Territorians the chance to tell their stories. With no time pressure, we sit and talk to each guest in as much detail as they want to tell us their story. The Territory is home to people from all walks of life, accordingly the stories range from those that have spent their whole in the Territory, to those who have moved here recently.

The Northern Territory of Australia is a place of myths of legends. This is the place where anything can happen, where we coined the phrase “Only In The Territory”. It has cosmopolitan cities, vast amounts of open space, the rugged Australian Outback all around us and many tiny communities spread across all of the Territory. Alice Springs is the heart of the nation situated in the southern part of the Northern Territory. Over 30% of the NT population are Aborigines and there are over 40 different indigenous language groups that reside in the NT.

The Territory Story Podcast - Darwin Podcast for all Territorians
While this Darwin based podcast started from the Northern Territory’s capital city, it is very much a podcast that tries to appeal to all Territorians. In addition, we have always tried to put the Territory on the map and stand up for Territorians and Territory issues. In amongst the myriad of locals we have spoken to on the podcast, we have also spoken with 2 Prime Ministers, several federal politicians, multiple NT politicians from both the government and the opposition, Mayors, sports stars, internationally renowned musicians, actors, high profile lawyers, business leaders, educators, entrepreneurs and even a survivor of September 11th who was in one of the world trade centre towers on that tragic day. The conversations we’ve had with all of the guests have left a lasting memory for us and all of our listeners. We thank every guest for sharing their stories with us. Who would have thought that a humble Darwin podcast would have lasted so long and been so influential in so many people’s lives?
